Canelo Alvarez is less than ten days away from heading into his greatest challenge yet. The Mexican p4p king and IBF titlist Caleb Plant are now all set to fight for the undisputed super middleweight championship. The winner of this mega bout would produce boxing’s sixth-ever undisputed champion in all divisions.
Ahead of this bad-blood fuelled clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 6, a new picture shows Canelo Alvarez possibly in the best shape of his life. Clearly, his weight cut process is going even better than expected.

Around 14 days before the fight, WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman also shared a similar update. He revealed on social media that Canelo Alvarez was already in line with the weight limit. He tweeted out on October 25 that he was already at 174.8 lbs and that he’s right on the track.

Considering that Canelo Alvarez is currently shredded and possibly in the best shape of his life, will he be able to square up to a taller and equally ripped Caleb Plant on November 6?
Can Caleb Plant’s height and reach trouble Canelo Alvarez?
What sets Caleb Plant apart is his ability to stick to his game plan throughout and not sway away from his corner’s instructions. Even in the face of fatigue, Plant has hardly ever diverted from the course of action constructed by his team.
In his last bout against Caleb Truax, Plant used his height, reach, jab and constant in-and-out footwork to his advantage. This synchronized approach allowed him to create and maintain distance at all times.
He continued with this approach and effectively blocked Truax from entering the pocket. He used an effective 1-1-2 combination that allowed him to follow up two left jabs with a heavy right cross punch.
It can’t be assumed if this approach would or would not work against Canelo Alvarez; however, the Mexican champ is probably the smartest and the most unpredictable fighter in all divisions combined.
Unlike most of Plant’s previous opponents, Canelo prefers to fight from inside the pocket and is comfortable clashing with taller opponents with longer reach. He has a very deceptive way of making his opponents believe that they’re able to block him off.
Alvarez always puts his lead leg forward and leans his torso back usually with a high guard. He is then able to slide in and out of the pocket very easily. Once he is in, he uses his impeccable defense and speed to duck shots and counter with a barrage of body shots, uppercuts, and cross punches.
Canelo is already very confident in his abilities; he has even predicted a knockout in the second half of the fight.
Do you think Caleb Plant’s height, reach and ability to maintain distance could be a problem for Alvarez?
