After the Zozo Championship in Japan, the 2021-22 PGA Tour will move towards the Bermuda Championship. One can say that the season is still in its initial phase, with players looking to take home some early wins. This time, the Bermuda Championship will be taking place at the Port Royal Golf Course.
As the name of the event suggests, the Port Royal Golf Course is located in Southampton, Bermuda. It is easily one of the best public golf courses in the world and has also been referred to so by Golf Digest. New York Times also regarded the venue as the ‘finest’ course in Bermuda. It has 18 championship holes to offer, stretching over 6842 yards. It remains a scenic course in Bermuda.
Additionally, the course has been designed by famous architect Robert Trent Jones Sr back in 1970. Today, the Port Royal Golf Course stands proud after a $14.5 million renovation, which has given the course a complete makeover.
Design team member Roger Rulewich helped bring the change for the 2009/10 PGA Grand Slam of Golf. The Bermuda Government has also taken part in making the course, making it one of the few courses to actually have TifEagle greens.

What are TifEagle Greens?
TifEagle greens are a “state-of-the-art irrigation system”, also offering an ocean view from almost every hole in the course. The staff too is known to take utmost care of their guests. To anyone learning, golf lessons with professionals at the course can be available. Lessons are available daily, many kinds of packages are available.
Another highlight of the course is its driving range, which is 300 yards with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. Of course, the venue also offers the most luxurious clubhouse experience. That being said, one can also host various kinds of charity and corporate events at the range.
What challenges can one face at the Port Royal Golf Course?
As scenic as the course is, one needs to be attentive right from the start while playing this course. While precision will always be key, hazards like bunkers can easily challenge one while in Bermuda. One needs to concentrate to win, always staying aware of the water hazards and so on hiding away. Though most holes are easy and straightforward to look at, one needs to think first before approaching.

Particularly demanding holes at the Port Royal Golf Course
Hole 1 itself is a straight-up challenge, both sand, and water ready to disrupt any player’s start. While Hole 3 is short, it will remain challenging for most players, who need to bring their a-game to get through the course easily. Hole 6 gives players an opportunity for a good shot, but bunkers are placed smartly, requiring accurate judgment to move around.
Hole 8 is yet another challenging par-3 for golfers. One mistake, and the ocean awaits your ball. At 15th, golfers need to drive well down the right, even par on the hole is difficult to achieve. The next hole – one of the most scenic in the world – is capable of fooling even the most experienced. The last hole requires players to hit a strong tee shot, which will only make their job easier later on.
Let’s take a look at the complete yardage.
