Former champion of the ongoing European Open, Andy Murray suffered a tough loss at the hands of Diego Schwartzman in the second-round. The defeat came after the Brit won an epic opening round matchup against Frances Tiafoe that lasted close to four hours.
All three sets of the intense battle went to the tie-breaker. Having already played a lot of tennis in the past few months, Murray recently confirmed his next appearance.
Andy Murray was given a wild-card into the upcoming ATP Vienna Open
Even though the three-time grand slam champion lost to Schwartzman in Antwerp, Murray will have another chance to extend his run on the ATP tour this year. The Brit has been given a wild-card to play the Vienna Open, which is due to start in a few days’ time.
Along with Murray, upcoming players like Dennis Novak and Lorenzo Musetti were also given a chance to prove their mettle at the Austrian capital.

Murray has certainly enjoyed the Vienna tournament. The Brit last played the event in 2016, where he defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final to clinch the title. Two years before, Murray defeated Ferrer to win his maiden Vienna title.
Since 2016, the former World No.1 hasn’t played at the event and this year presents a golden opportunity for Andy to develop match confidence by winning close contests.

Murray’s comeback this year had more tough losses than victories
Ever since his comeback this year, the Brit’s on-court efforts to win matches have been widely appreciated by tennis admirers, as many of them want to see Murray lift an ATP title sooner or later. However, with the stiff competition coming out from youngsters, the Brit is finding it difficult to cross the initial rounds.
A big match player, Andy Murray, managed to bring out glimpses of his vintage best on-court this year but failed to sustain dominance throughout these matches. Despite tough losses, the Brit wants to continue without any break.
Coming to the Vienna Open, the draw is yet to be revealed and the initial entry list includes top players like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, Matteo Berrettini, Felix Auger-Aliassime amongst others.
With all these youngsters competing for the title, it will be interesting to see how Andy Murray fairs in the tournament.
