Who is Will Zalatoris’ Caddie? All You Need to Know About Ryan Goble

Having turned professional a few years ago, Will Zalatoris has already made a name for himself in the golf world. Of course, a golfer closely works with his caddie to play well on a course. Let’s take a look at Zalatoris’ caddie Ryan Goble, and how the two of them started working together.

The two have apparently worked together since 2019, which means Goble has been with Zalatoris even before he started playing on the PGA Tour. Last year Zalatoris had played on the Korn Ferry Tour and won the TPC Colorado Championship.

And while there is no denying Zalatoris’ hard work, Goble also had a big part to play in that victory. Therefore, we decided to take a look at Goble, exploring more details about the caddie.

While Zalatoris started with the Korn Ferry Tour, Goble has prior experience, having already worked with John Merrick. Goble was with Merrick during his 2013 Northern Trust Open win, which came after he beat Charlie Beljan. Interestingly, this is not the only job Goble has taken up.

He has worked as a manager for the Mulligan Golf Center in Los Angeles. At UCLA, he was the assistant men’s golf coach, from where he completed his undergraduate studies. He has also played and coached basketball. Goble played at Central Michigan University, and at College of the Sequoias where he was captain.

Golble’s basketball journey continues to Redwood High, where he played two seasons. He also coached Exeter High boys’ basketball team, where they also won the Division III league championship.

Spencer Levin, Michael Thompson, and K.H. Lee are some others Goble’s worked with. That being said, Merrick’s Northern Trust win is Goble’s only PGA Tour win.

Zalatoris gives an insight into his relationship with Goble

During the Wyndham Championship this season, Zalatoris also shared an anecdote with fans, which gave everyone an insight into their relationship.

“We get up on to 16 tee,” Zalatoris said about a shot from the 2020 TPC Colorado Championship. Zalatoris was frustrated after he was unable to birdie the easy 15th, something which Goble picked up on.

“I’m pacing off the yardage. I’m like, ‘I’ve got 122.’ He said, ‘Pace it off again.’ I’m looking at him like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. I’m trying to win a golf tournament. You’ve got a different number?’”

Zalatoris added that once he looked at Goble, who was smiling, he knew he was hoping he would slow down for a moment. “Don’t press and make a mistake when you don’t have to because the first thing if someone tells you to calm down, you’re like ‘Well, no, I’m not going to calm down, you calm down.'”.

The 25-year-old added it was a good mind trick that Goble played, which did, in turn, help him secure his first win. We also learned that Goble, 51, calls the younger golfer ‘Junior’. Zalatoris added that Goble has also been a great friend to him and often also gets mistaken as his dad.
