WATCH: Williams F1 Driver Avoids Disastrous Collision With Surprise Hopper at Italian GP

It looks like there were 21 contenders at Monza on Friday. A little surprise made its way across the F1 track, narrowly avoiding a collision with Nicholas Latifi. Cutting across the grass, a small rabbit crossed the track ahead of the Williams, making a lucky escape.

The quick bunny was fortunately fast enough to avoid the F1 car. Jumping to safety, maybe the drivers should have looked out for a turtle somewhere behind!

Twitter immediately reacted to the little racer; F1 never ceases to be the content for good jokes!

Haas, as always found its way to be the subject of the joke as most associated the bunny to the team; or even faster.

Some even linked up the previous animals the sport has seen. Verstappen had encountered the ‘giant lizard’ back in 2016; who would win that race?

On a week where the driver market has been busy, the rabbit probably did deserve that one seat left at Alfa Romeo. Let’s hope Fred Vasseur witnessed that stunning racecraft.

Italian GP off to an exciting start

All jokes aside, the Italian GP is building up to be an interesting race. Valtteri Bottas qualified fastest, heading the sprint qualifying on Saturday. Verstappen may lose his pole position streak after having trouble finding pace with the Red Bull; the championship leader will start the sprint in third.

McLaren had their best qualifying of the season. Both drivers sped through the track, battling for the top of the board. Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo sit on 4th and 5th respectively, a promising advantage for the sprint. This also means trouble for their rival, Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc was head complaining about problems with his braking. While Sainz didn’t face any problems, the Italian team start on the fourth row; further from where they would like to be.

With the dynamics of the competition seeing a slight detour, the second sprint race will only spice things up in the grid. Who will start where for the Italian GP? It could be anyone’s game.
