UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett opened up the main card for UFC Fight Night in explosive fashion with a first-round KO. Paddy ‘The Baddy’ promised UFC fans that he would make sure Luigi Vendramini wouldn’t make it out of the first round and he delivered on that promise. The explosive finish came at 04:25 of R1 and was a massive statement by the Liverpool native.
Pimblett faced early adversity as Vendramini was extremely sharp on the feet. The Brazilian was landing heavy especially with a step-in left hook that went largely unnoticed by Pimblett. In fact, Paddy Pimblett was rocked by a flurry, however, he managed to survive and bounce back.

Pimblett’s fighting stance allows for blitzing into range, however, it also leaves him open to check hooks and counters. But it was Pimblett’s ability to throw everything but the kitchen sink at his opponent and ensure he secured the win.

Paddy Pimblett: How high is his ceiling
Hailing from Cage Warriors, Pimblett has been compared to Conor McGregor who also made his name in said promotion. With a sensational first-round KO under his belt, Pimblett has now managed to start his UFC career in a similarly emphatic fashion to ‘Notorious’ McGregor.

His upper ceiling is virtually endless considering the hype surrounding him already. However, he needs to make sure the stoppage wins keep on coming as he climbs the UFC lightweight division. The 155-pound division is a shark-tank of dangerous contenders and making your way up the ladder can be challenging.
Paddy Pimblett has made the most of his first UFC main card appearance and fans will certainly remember his name. Not to mention, he has a fighting style that usually ends with him securing the stoppage win. The 17-3 fighter certainly has a long way to go but he’s taking steps in the right direction.
