Former Lakers’ Forward Matt Barnes Says This Former All-Star Was More Gifted Than Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant was one of the most gifted players from the 1996 NBA draft. Kobe lived up to the expectations and became one of the greatest players of all time. He spent his entire career with the Lakers and won five championships with them. However, Kobe’s former teammate Matt Barnes feels there’s another player who was more gifted than the likes of Kobe and Shaquille O’Neal.

Kobe Bryant and Matt Barnes played together for two seasons, from 2010 to 2012. Barnes played regularly at the Lakers for the two seasons. However, most of his appearances came from the bench. Barnes left for cross-town rivals LA Clippers, where he got a much important role. However, Barnes cherished his tenure at Los Angeles Lakers as he got to play with some greats of the game. But despite playing alongside Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, Barnes feels Vince Carter was more gifted than the former two.

Matt Barnes feels Vince Carter was more gifted than Kobe Bryant

Former NBA star Matt Barnes recently appeared for an interview with Forgotten Seasons. In the interview, Matt was asked about his experience of playing alongside Vince Carter. To this, Matt Barnes said that Vince is more gifted than Kobe and Shaquille O’Neal.

“I got a chance to play with Kobe and I got a chance to play with AI and Shaq. Vince (Carter) is probably the most gifted basketball player I’ve ever played with,” Barnes said.

“Someone that can do everything like regular pull-up jump shots from half-court, right and left hand. Fresh off. No stretching. Can do any dunk you can imagine Just super, super talented.”

Six-time NBA All-Star Vince Carter was one of the most talented players during his playing career. He played for eight teams in the NBA and retired last year. However, the 44-year-old has never won an NBA title in his career. Vince had the longest career in the NBA history as he played 22 seasons since 1998.

He is ahead of Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the most seasons played list. However, Matt Barnes feels Vince was more gifted than Kobe.

But Kobe definitely had a better career as he played 20 seasons at one franchise and helped them win five champions, that’s one NBA title in every five years. Few players have tasted success like Kobe.
