Former Kings Star Admits Len Bias Could Have Been Michael Jordan’s Biggest Competitor in the NBA

LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and even Kevin Durant are among the most common names that pop up in comparison to Michael Jordan and his greatness. But there is also another name that most have forgotten, and rightly so because he never got a chance to prove his potential in the NBA. That’s right, it’s none other than Len Bias, who unfortunately passed away only two days after the NBA draft in 1986. In fact, even Walt Williams thinks that in some ways or the other, Len was better than Jordan.

What made Len Bias better than Michael Jordan?

On Basketball Network, Walt Williams was asked if Len Bias was alive. Would he be the greatest of all time that everyone would have been talking about over Michael Jordan? To this, Walt replied, “Either we would be talking about him as the greatest dog of all time, or Jordan would have been at an even different level. I think those guys certainly would have pushed each other to the max.”

However, when it came down to actually comparing, Walt sided with Len instead. “I think he was a little bit ahead of Michael when they were in college, with his skill set. The jump shot that Bias had was just the prettiest thing you could ever see. And he could defend multiple positions. He was kind of a hybrid of how you see the game played now.”

Len Bias would have set the bar on a whole new level

In fact, Williams even went as far as saying that Bias’ presence would have elevated the game way back during his time. And the way other players try to emulate Jordan in the league right now, Bias would have been a similar role model.

When the Boston Celtics drafted Len as the second overall pick, fans were very enthusiastic to see him play in the league. But as fate would have it, he never got a chance to do that. So, the least that can be done is to remember him for what he was and the talent he displayed prior to his tragic demise.
