Cristiano Ronaldo is enjoying a fantastic start to his second stint at Manchester United. The Portuguese forward has scored four goals in his first three games for the club. However, his mother has hinted at a surprising move for the 36-year-old.
According to Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, the forward is closer than ever to a return to former club Sporting Lisbon. In a recent interview, Dolores Aveiro revealed, “Ronaldo has to come back here. If it were my choice, he would already be here. He likes to watch Sporting games. I’ve already told him: ‘Son before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting.’ He says: ‘Let’s see.’ But if it cannot be him, then Cristianinho“.
‘Cristianinho’ is Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. who looks set to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Cristiano Ronaldo and his career at Sporting Lisbon
Ronaldo started his career with Andorinha and Nacional for their youth teams before finally moving to Sporting CP in 1997. He was just 12 at the time, and after only spending five years in the youth setup, he was involved in the first team at the age of 17.
Sporting gave him his professional debut in 2002, and he played 25 games for the club. Finally, Manchester United noticed the young star and his potential and signed him in a big-money move in 2003.
With all of this history between Ronaldo and Sporting, it’s not hard to envisage a move in the future. However, will he give up the glory and trophies that he can win at Manchester United right now?

United are currently third in the Premier League table after five games. They are tied on points with Liverpool and Chelsea for the first position but have a worse goal difference. Nevertheless, this squad looks scary and barring an excellent central defensive midfielder; United have an amazing team.
