Despite all the criticism, Jake Paul has showcased constant progression in his boxing journey. After debuting against a fellow YouTuber in 2o19, the 24-year-old upgraded his opponents with every progressive scrap. In his second fight, Paul faced an athlete in Nate Robinson inside the boxing ring.
However, the retired NBA player couldn’t offer much and lost the fight via KO in the second round. From there, Paul went on to beat former MMA champion, Ben Askren, in his third appearance and is on the brink of facing 5X UFC champion Tyron Woodley on August 29. Besides, Jake Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor has revealed a few more insights that validate Paul’s steady growth as a pugilist.
In a chat with Sky Sports, Anthony Taylor said, “A lot of these people say Jake doesn’t take you serious. I am with Jake every single day. For a guy who has been training for three years, his growth is equivalent of a guy who has been boxing for six years. Imagine, you doing boxing for three years. You would probably go to the gym 2-3 times a week for an hour, right?”
“Jake has been going to the gym three years straight, three times a day, six times a week. So you gotta understand the growth is from here to here. The growth of the learning curve where he is at.”
