He's suddenly the man in the hot seat of Parramatta's finals campaign, but talented hooker Joey Lussick is all but lost to the Eels for 2022.
Lussick has been thrust into the hooking role for the rest of the season following the devastating news that Reed Mahoney is undergoing shoulder surgery and unlikely to play again until next year.
The 25-year-old Lussick did a good job replacing Mahoney for several games when he was unavailable mid-season - and it didn't go unnoticed in the Old Dart.
Several English clubs, headed by St Helens, are throwing good money on a long-term deal to Lussick and he is almost certain to move to Super League.
The under-rated hooker has a big reputation in England, having been a key man in Salford's shock rise to the grand final in 2019 for the first time.
A Manly junior, Lussick had three successful years at Salford before moving to Parramatta this season as Mahoney's back-up.
Now he is a vital figure in the Eels' plans in the crucial dummy-half role, filling the big shoes of Mahoney, who has been in outstanding form throughout the last couple of seasons.
But it is destined to be a cameo performance, with England and Super League calling.
