New twist shuts down Turbo injury rumours

Manly superstar Tom Trbojevic says he's fit to play this weekend despite initial fears he suffered a serious cheekbone injury.

Trbojevic today revealed that despite reports he suffered a fractured cheekbone during Manly's win over the Parramatta on the weekend, there was in fact no injury of that nature.

The 24-year-old fullback told Nine's Danny Weidler that not only have scans confirmed there was no fracture, but he claims the incident with his cheekbone was a case of friendly fire and not from a Maika Sivo high shot.

"I came across to make a tackle and I had a little head clash with (Jason) Saab," Trbojevic told Nine News Sydney.

"It (cheekbone) feels good. It's gotten a lot better than what it was after the game.

"No fracture, no fracture at all. Just a bit of swelling around the area from the contact."

Asked if there was any chance he might not play this Friday when the Sea Eagles take on the Raiders, Trbojevic responded with, "not to my understanding, no."

"I definitely want to play [this weekend," he added.

"I'm really enjoying my footy at the moment."

With three games remaining before the finals series kicks off, the Sea Eagles sit just two points outside of the top four in the fifth spot on the NRL ladder.
