Montoya Compares His Son Sebastian’s No-Holds-Barred F1 Style to Max Verstappen

We will always remember Juan Pablo Montoya as one of the fastest and feistiest racers in motorsports history. He gained popularity after he won the Indy500 and then entered the F1 circuit. He was straightaway on the pace and challenged the great Michael Schumacher for the 2003 championship.

Unfortunately, his time in F1 ended after a dismal 2006 season with the McLaren team. Now, he hopes that his son Sebastian can follow in his footsteps and also race in the sport one day alongside the likes of Max Verstappen.

“I try to be at as many races as possible. That’s not easy sometimes, because some races coincide with my own races and other things I do.”

While mentioning some similarities between him and his son, Montoya said, “He does a lot of things better than I do. And he’s much smarter than me, which isn’t that hard, by the way!

“But he’s a really good racer. He is very good at defending and overtaking. His racing skills are unbelievable. I am very proud.”

“That would be cool! You never know. We will see! Max and Sebastian are a bit like each other. They are both real racers and want to overtake people. They don’t sit and wait. And they do whatever it takes to get the job done,” said Montoya.

Juan Pablo mentioned that he has been in contact with some teams regarding his son’s future in F1.
