Emma Raducanu has vowed to move on and learn from her defeat at the Silicon Valley Open in San Jose. She lost to Zhang Shuai of China in the first round of the tournament. However, she has accepted that this is all a part of the learning curve and her journey has just started.
The British national rose to fame in early July after her splendid run at the Wimbledon Championships. The youngster has shown signs of becoming a top player in her category.

I am constantly learning: Emma Raducanu after her difficult loss in San Jose
Emma had to leave the court during her round of 16 match with Ajla Tomljanovic, as a result of breathing problems. However, that wasn’t the highlight of her Wimbledon Championships. She entered the tournament through wildcard entry and reached the last 16 stage at the age of 18.
She played her first tournament in San Jose after a month after withdrawing from her Wimbledon Championships match. The World N.184 lost in the first round against Zhang Shuai with a score line of 3-6, 2-6. Emma has promised to be patient at this young age.
“I am still at the very beginning of my journey so every opportunity I get I am very grateful because I feel like I am constantly learning. On the WTA Tour every match is going to be difficult and there aren’t going to be many good matches,” said Emma in her post match interview.

Emma’s learnings from her defeat
A loss is always important in a player’s career as it helps in bringing in humility in their behavior. Emma too has learned her lesson in her first tournament since a month.
“I am at the very beginning, it is my second WTA Tour tournament, I am just learning and it is onwards from here. What I learned is how to try and deal with someone when they are playing very well and you feel like you are not doing much wrong but you are constantly on the back foot,” said Emma
Emma received a wild card entry for the WTA tour in San Jose as well. She can only go upwards from here and achieve success in her career.
