While there are big names on the top of the tally, Kosovo, a rather small country with two gold medals, is ranking above nations like Italy. Bermuda, a small island nation, won its first-ever Olympic gold medal in Triathlon.

The host country has continued its top spot on day four. Japan has won 18 medals till now 10 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze. Even though the total count is less than USA and China, their gold medals are higher.

USA’s medal tally at 25 medals

The USA is still one gold medal behind the host nation, making them stand in the second position. On the fourth day, the nation clinched the gold medal in surfing and swimming. While they also bagged medals in shooting, diving, equestrian, swimming, and gymnastics.

17-year-old USA swimmer Lydia Jacoby surprised everyone, including herself, by winning gold. Whereas in gymnastics team event Simone Biles had a shocking withdrawal. However, the team still clinched the silver medal.
