Former UFC dual division champion and the current BMF champion Jorge Masvidal are almost riding the same ship. Both have star power and draw huge amounts of money for UFC whenever they step inside the octagon. But both have now distanced themselves from their respective divisional belts.
While an improved and formidable Dustin Poirier doomed McGregor twice this year, Masvidal meanwhile found himself on the wrong side of a highlight-reel knockout by the welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in April.
So, considering their present scenario, a matchup between the two behemoths makes some sense. If made, this could be a dream scenario for fans and UFC too. The promotion could be looking at PPV buys in millions.
While it does look like a remunerative deal, Masvidal’s manager, Malki Kawa, doesn’t find any possibilities of this. In a recent happening, a Twitter user asked this question citing the money, action, and build-up that will be involved in this.
Guys, stop this. Masvidal is too big for him, that’s why @danawhite never liked this fight. https://t.co/NbEBODng7a

Kawa, though, shut this idea down and declared, “Guys, stop this. Masvidal is too big for him, that’s why @danawhite never liked this fight.”

McGregor is currently on the sidelines as he is recovering from the leg injury he suffered at UFC 264. It will probably take him a year to make an appearance inside the octagon.
Meanwhile, Masvidal is eyeing a matchup later this year and has a bunch of stars to target, including Nate Diaz and Leon Edwards.
What does Dana White think about Conor McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal?
While fans can dream of any match they want to, but it boils down to what the boss eventually thinks. And in this case, White has already shown his cards.
In an interview given two years back, White mentioned why it’s not possible for McGregor to face someone like Masvidal. “Masvidal is too big for Conor,” White said.
“There are plenty of fights for him in his weight division without Conor. Conor doesn’t belong at 170. He’s got the balls to fight at 170, but he doesn’t belong there.”

Although it may seem a suitable match on paper, it is far from happening anytime soon. But this is UFC. It doesn’t take much time before there is a change in the scenario. Who knows? We may very well end up getting the dream fight.
