After disappointing fans with his decision to withdraw from the singles event at Tokyo Olympics this year, three-time grand slam champion Andy Murray compensated it with a couple of incredible performances along with Joe Salisbury in the doubles draw.

Team Britain reached the quarter-finals by defeating Kevin Kraweitz and Tim Putz in the second round at Tokyo. Throughout the matchup, Murray was energetic and played with poise and grit to clinch the contest in straight sets.
Despite the second set going to a tie-breaker, team Britain managed to sail past the German pair to reach the quarters. They will now face Ivan Dodig and Marin Cilic in the final eight of men’s doubles draw.
After formal exchanges at the net, Murray was seen giving a surprising pat of encouragement to his partner.

Looking at this gesture from Murray, Australian tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios commented on the clip admiring the Brit’s behavior.

Andy Murray managed to put up a decent performance so far this year
The Aussie has always been a vocal admirer of Murray in the past. During the COVID-19 pandemic last year, both Kyrgios and Murray went live on Instagram and entertained tennis fans across the globe.
Coming to Murray’s performances this year, the former world number managed to play few tournaments right from the start of the year. He reached the finals of a Challenger event in Italy and lost to Illya Marchenko in straight sets.

During the grass-court season, the Brit participated at the Queen’s club Championships and was defeated by Matteo Berrettini in the second round. At SW19, Murray entertained the center court crowd by winning the first two matches against Nikoloz Basilashvili and Oscar Otte.
Going by his performances, it’s safe to say that Andy Murray is one of the top contenders to clinch a third consecutive medal at Tokyo Olympics this year.
