‘I Accept it Graciously’- Miranda Maverick Keeps Her Head High Even After the Narrow Loss Against Maycee Barber at UFC Vegas 32

UFC rising star Miranda Maverick lost a hard-fought battle against Maycee Barber via split decision in the main card of UFC Vegas 32. Although it wasn’t quite a convincing win for ‘The Future’. Many people opined it was Miranda who should have won.

While the judging is debatable, there is no doubt about the effort put up by the talented fighters. Both gave it their all, and in the end, the judges found Maycee a little better than Maverick.

While a narrow loss can deflate anyone, Maverick doesn’t want to make any excuses for her loss. In a heartfelt message, Miranda said, “Only those who have been here know how much this hurts to post. I lost… no if, ands, or buts. I did not do enough and remained too inactive in the 3rd round, among other things.”

However, she promised she will be back after working on various skills. “I’ll be back better every time working on various skills. I do not know the will of God, but I accept it graciously.”

Maverick was on assault right from the word go. She had ‘The Future’ under trouble for the majority of the 1st and 2nd rounds. The latter needed a finish in Round 3 to give herself the chance to win. She performed exceptionally well but couldn’t get the stoppage win. But she still did enough to emerge victorious.

Maverick later added that she wasn’t done with Barber. “Congrats to @mayceebarber. Hold my spot. I have a feeling we’ll meet again soon,” she said.

Miranda Maverick promises to get back stronger

Maverick is still new in the UFC. Apart from this match, she had fought in two other matches and won both of them. She has age and skills on her side to make something in the division headed by Valentina Shevchenko.

In another post, she promised her fans that she will come back scarier than before. Not fierce enough this time. But I can say over my years… I’m a quick learner and will be back scarier than ever before,” she wrote.

“I’ll let the feeling of devastation set in for tonight and be back to working my a** off tomorrow as I do every day. The knowledge that almost an average year’s income for me in the past was just ripped out of my grasp.”

She added, “That much closer to paying off my dream property/home. Setbacks are not something I expect, but I am prepared to ensure they are corrected.”

It’s still early days for her and a loss like this shouldn’t deter her a bit. But it will be interesting to see who she fights next. What did you make of Maverick’s statement?
