Formula One Managing Director Ross Brawn gives his two cents on the British Grand Prix in his column. He declared Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc to be his driver of the day. Leclerc thoroughly impressed Brawn as the frontrunner for 50 laps of the race.
He praises the Monegasque for a beautiful drive.“Charles managed the race beautifully. His pace on the mediums was very, very good and he didn’t let the power cutting out issue frustrate him.”
The former Ferrari Technical Director believes that if Leclerc had a better red car, he would’ve stood on top of the podium. “It was a stand-out performance from the Monegasque in a Ferrari that isn’t quite on the level to fight at the front in normal condition.”
However, everyone was impressed by Leclerc’s race that afternoon. Defending two Silver Arrows is no easy feat. Looking at the driver, Brawn hopes that Ferrari will give him a car to do him justice.
“This performance reminded us how good he is, after a bit of quiet time lately. He is an exceptional driver – and I look forward to the day when Ferrari delivers a car that allows him to take the fight to the frontrunners.”
50% happy 50% disappointed- Charles Leclerc
Before Sunday, Charles Leclerc’s last podium was at Silverstone in the 2020 season. Having missed the feeling of standing on the stage, he must be extremely proud to have his hands on that trophy.
Additionally, he just completed a race holding back a championship contender and not making it too easy for him either.
Celebrating his 13th podium in the sport, with the team he grew up idolizing. If nothing, he has only gained respect in the eyes of the drivers on the grid, officials, and the fans. Anyone who watched the race would be fooled to think Leclerc isn’t a capable driver.

A day on and I'm still 50% happy and 50% disappointed but that’s a good thing. Great to be on the podium and it shows the progress we have made but also shows that we're not there yet. So proud of the whole @ScuderiaFerrari team. We'll keep pushing and we'll be back on top soon pic.twitter.com/WRhLutjlYV

The 50% of disappointment is something most share with the Monegasque. It was thrilling to see the gap between the front runner increase as Leclerc pushed the car with everything he had.
It would have been a momentous victory for Charles and the Prancing Horse. However, Leclerc promises, “We’ll keep pushing and we’ll be back on top soon.”
The P2 at Silverstone will fuel the Ferrari driver for a better result. He has had a great pace consistently throughout the weekend; he also knows how to handle the car.
The Hungarian Grand Prix could give us an epic battle for the top, not only between the championship contenders but also between Leclerc and his rising rival, Norris.
