Few of the high-ranked players were eliminated in the opening singles round from the ATP side. List of players who lost in the first-round include Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Gael Monfils.

Andy Murray, who initially decided to play singles as well as doubles in Tokyo, pulled out of the singles draw citing fitness issues. The former world number one will play the doubles event alongside Joe Salisbury.

The duo already ousted the French doubles pairing of Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hughes Herbert in the opening round and will now face Kei Nishikori and Ben McLachlan from team Japan.

Besides tennis, all the national teams have engaged themselves in a lot of team activities inside the Olympic village. Also, few Olympic debutants are collecting the famous pins from athletes of several nations.

Murray also had a similar experience with UK-born Jamaican diver Yona Knight-Wisdom. The Jamaican diver posted a couple of photos on Twitter sharing an anecdote from 2016 Rio Olympics.

5 years in the making, Andy Murray”, tweeted Yona.

I met Andy Murray at the Rio Opening Ceremony…I asked for a pic and in return he asked for a pin, but I didn’t have any! 5 years later we finally managed to do the trade in Tokyo!!” wrote the Jamaican.

The popularity of tennis stars inside the Olympic village is huge. Days before the start of the event, athletes from all across the world were posting selfies with world number one, Novak Djokovic.

From the athletes’ reaction, it was evident that the Serbian star was extremely courteous with everyone inside the village. Djokovic had a gym session with Belgian athletes and posed a photo that went viral.

Despite all the doubts surrounding Tokyo Olympics, it’s refreshing to see the likes of Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Medvedev, and others from the ATP tour enjoying themselves in a team-spirited environment.
