Tyson Fury’s journey, not only as a boxer but as a human, has been really interesting. Battling mental health issues after defeating Wladimir Klitschko, Fury was on the verge of losing it all. But Fury made a turnaround in his life with the help of boxing.
Recently, ‘The Gypsy King’ has revealed that the road to a comeback was not only difficult physically for him, but business-wise as well. Speaking with the Daily Mail UK, Fury shared his dealings with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn and his father Barry Hearn when he was thinking of making a comeback.
“I have to say that he and his father Barry made the biggest mistake of their lives when they didn’t sign me after three years out of action. We met, but they thought I would never lose the weight, that I wouldn’t even make the comeback, that they’d lose their money,” the Heavyweight champion said.
Fury and Hearn have sparred online over the years. The two have a history of not liking each other. Yet, Fury was quick to address that the British promoter is in fact good at his job.
“Eddie’s good at his job. For a young man, he’s done fantastic over the past few years. From three-rounders with Prizefighter, he’s gone on to monopolize Sky and sign excellent fighters here in America with DAZN. It doesn’t matter if I like him or not. I can only comment on what I see,” Fury said.

Tyson Fury’s journey back to the top
Tyson Fury had taken a hiatus from the sport that lasted 924 days after beating Klitschko in 2015.
The champ had struggled to maintain his sanity after reaching the pinnacle of the sport, confessing he felt directionless after. He struggled with mental health issues to reclaim the most coveted prize in all prizefighting- The Heavyweight strap of Professional Boxing. Fury apparently approached the Hearns when he was just thinking of getting back in the ring.

“I had a chance to sign him in Monaco, I think I could have signed him. I didn’t want to give him the fights that he wanted to take at the time, because I thought it was just too much money and the fights weren’t good enough – and I probably should have done it, to be honest with you,” Hearn had said in the past.
After beating Deontay Wilder and claiming the WBC Heavyweight championship, Fury was scheduled to face Anthony Joshua next. The winner of the bout would have been crowned the unified, undisputed champion of the world. However, because of contractual obligations, the Fury-Joshua bout had to be scrapped. Fury would instead face Deontay Wilder for the third time in July.
