‘Time to Get Ready’ – Jon Rahm Drops Sensational News Ahead of U.S. Open 2021

Jon Rahm was given agonizing news when he was leading the Memorial Tournament last week. A positive COVID-19 test during the event forced him to withdraw and give up hopes of winning his sixth tour title. Rahm contracting coronavirus also put his U.S. Open participation in doubt, but the Spaniard recently delivered exciting news for his fans.

Golf fans sympathized with Jon Rahm at the Memorial Tournament. He well and truly looked on the right course to win the tournament, but it all came crashing down at the end of Round 3. Rahm was an asymptomatic COVID positive case, and he had to be taken out of the competition as per the tour’s protocols.

Of course, being unable to win a tour event after getting so close would’ve been distressing for Jon Rahm. He teared up on the Murfield Village course after being told about his fate but handled it graciously soon after.

The bigger thing at stake was Rahm’s availability at U.S. Open 2021. However, the uncertainty has now been cleared by the golfer himself, as he posted a tweet on Saturday.

“After two negative tests in a 24 hour span and being cleared by health officials, it’s time to get ready for the US Open. Vamos!!” Rahm tweeted. He also added a Sylvester Stallone GIF from the movie Rambo, as an ode to his nickname!

This is indeed massive news for the USGA as well as Jon Rahm. He’s considered one among the favorites to win the third major of the year, considering the fact that it is being hosted at a venue where he’s emerged as a winner before.

The U.S. Open will be played on the South Course at Torrey Pines in San Diego this year. Rahm won the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open at the same venue. He is well accustomed to playing at Torrey Pines.

Rahm finished T23 at the U.S. Open last year

Jon Rahm played at the delayed U.S. Open last year and finished T23 in the field. He finished 16 strokes behind eventual winner Bryson DeChambeau and recorded an aggregate score of 290 over the weekend.

Rahm did not find success at the Winged Foot Golf Club last year. However, he is favored to do so at Torrey Pines this year. Where do you reckon Rahm will finish at U.S. Open 2021?
