Queensland players are hoping for a more 'hands on' approach from coach Paul Green in the lead-up to Origin II on Sunday.
Maroons players have done their own painful post-mortem of the opening game, in which they were blown off the park by NSW by 50 points.
And they have concluded that they spent too much time playing mind games with what the Blues might or might not do instead of worrying about their own house.
"They had a very strong side with great individual players and I think we spent a lot of the week trying to counter them," one senior Maroons player told Wide World of Sports.
"I believe Paul had faith in us coming up with the goods in attack - he knows you can't teach experienced Origin players much in just a couple of sessions.
"We went out there and screwed up - that's on us.
"But I hope this week we work more on our own combinations, get game one out of our heads and work to our strengths.
"We have plenty of strike-power of our own and if we concentrate on those strengths rather then trying to stop the Blues, we will go better."
The Maroons have a great record against the Blues at Suncorp Stadium and will need every bit of the home ground advantage to square the series after the disaster in Townsville.
