‘Gonna Drive Myself Crazy’: Giannis Antetokounmpo Explains Why There Is No Basketball Talk in His House

The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Miami Heat by completing a 4-0 sweep in the series. Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered a masterclass in this series as the Bucks avenged their playoff loss to the Heat last season.

The Bucks are one of the favorites to win the NBA title as they have a very balanced squad. As the team is getting a well-deserved rest, they are scheduled to play the Brooklyn Nets in the semi-finals. Giannis has stated how he is not thinking about basketball but taking the time off to spend time with his family ahead of a tough series.

He threw in some points in the interview about how he spent time at home while not thinking about basketball.

Giannis Antetokounmpo looking to end the title-drought

Even though they are a rising organization, the team hasn’t won an NBA title since 1971. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson helped the Bucks to win the series against the Baltimore Bullets. The Greek Freak will hope to match it this time around. But right now, he is enjoying the fruits of his labor.

“So I leave my phone in my room, I go sit in the couch with my son, I don’t watch the games, do not pay attention in basketball. Sometimes you know my girlfriend or my brother, like they tell me about, hey you know what, Washington won last night. I go like hey, we are not talking about basketball in this house.

“We don’t talk about basketball you know why, because the way my brain operates, all I think about is basketball, so I don’t need to talk more. I am gonna drive myself crazy,” said Giannis.

He spoke about taking time away from thinking about basketball so that his thought process would have clarity going into games. This is important for players because of their intense schedules. The man looks determined to go all the way this season.

The stage is set for Giannis vs Durant

Similarly, the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Boston Celtics by 4-1 in their series as Durant is chasing his 3rd NBA title. But, the league is waiting for a matchup between KD vs the Freak. Both have similar styles when driving to the rim; explosive inside the paint. However, the Nets have Harden and Kyrie amongst their ranks while they would be in for a tough series.

Khris Middleton has been the support man for Antetokounmpo in their series against Miami. He averaged 21.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in their matchup with the Heat. Brook Lopez and Jrue Holiday provided them with valuable plays to move them forward.

As we expect a tightly contested affair, the contest between the 2nd and 3rd seeded teams will be a spectacle, for the fans. Can Giannis get past KD or will it be the other way around?
