Carlos Takam Spills the Beans on What Francis Ngannou Said About Joe Joyce During Sparring

Cameroonian-French boxer Carlos Takam has recently drawn his next opponent for a July 24 battle set to take place in London. Takam will go toe-to-toe against Joe Joyce who looks to extend his undefeated record to 13 fights. The bout is set to take place before the highly anticipated heavyweight trilogy scrap between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

Carlos Takam has gone up against the very best in the sport including Anthony Joshua, Alexander Povetkin, and Dereck Chisora, to name a few. A win over Joyce would be massive considering the momentum that Joe Joyce has managed to garner. ‘Juggernaut’ Joyce defeated Daniel Dubois in his last outing and is primed for success.

Francis Ngannou provides insight on Joe Joyce

Ahead of his clash against Joyce, Carlos Takam may have an ace up his sleeve in the form of Francis Ngannou. ‘The Predator’ sparred with Joyce and had some interesting takeaways from the experience. Chiefly, Ngannou and Takam are countrymen and friends and the exchange could prove to be helpful for Carlos Takam going forward.

Takam spoke to Seconds Out Live and shared the insight he received from Ngannou, who trained with Joyce.

“They asked me to spar with Joe I said I didn’t want to but they could spar my friend Francis [Ngannou] if they want. Francis says he’s a tough guy and he hits hard. He told me he’s a good guy but not dangerous.”

“We spar together, when we trained for his last fight when he won the title we sparred together 5 or 6 times. I helped him prepare for that fight.”

Carlos Takam will certainly take some interesting insights away from the fact that Ngannou didn’t find Joyce ‘dangerous’. However, overlooking Joe Joyce has proven to be a costly oversight, especially for Daniel Dubois. Joyce certainly possesses punching power and can shut the light out on anyone.

However, Ngannou isn’t a seasoned pure boxer and Takam will be pleased to know that Ngannou could hang with Joyce. Boxing fans will take a keen look at these additional insights as the fight begins to draw near.
