Sean O’Malley Set to Return to the Octagon on July 10th at UFC 264

UFC 264 will be one of the biggest cards of the year for the UFC. Conor McGregor returns to the fight capital of the world as he takes on Dustin Poirier for the third time in front of a sold-out stadium. The card is beginning to take shape and exciting fights have been announced over the past few days. Sean O’Malley is the latest big name to be added to the UFC 264 card.

‘Sugar’ has quickly established himself as a fan favorite in the UFC for his quirky style and his jaw-dropping knockouts. O’Malley will be aiming to build on his recent performance at 260 as he takes on Louis Smolka on July 10th.

Can Louis Smolka cause a big upset against Sean O’Malley at UFC 264?

Sugar’ burst onto the scene with an impressive performance on Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2017. He then fought four more times in the UFC and won two of the four fights via vicious knockouts.

However, at UFC 252 in August 2020, O’Malley succumbed to his first professional loss as he was stopped by Marlon Vera. A fight he believes was not as a loss but a mere ‘freak incident’. During the fight, ‘Chito’ landed a leg kick that severely compromised O’Malley’s ability to walk. Vera capitalized on it and secured a first-round stoppage win.

O’Malley bounced back impressively after his first career loss. ‘Sugar’ utterly dominated Thomas Almeida at UFC 260 in March this year. He secured not one but two walk-off knockouts against a very dangerous Almeida.

‘Sugar’ will be taking on unranked Louis Smolka at UFC 264 according to recent reports. ‘Da Last Samurai’ is 3-2 in his last five fights in his second stint with the promotion. Smolka was released from the UFC in December 2017 following a four-fight skid. He returned to the promotion a year later and is having a much better time this time around.

He won via spectacular knockout in his last outing in December 2020. ‘Da Last Samurai’ will not only be looking to extend his win streak at UFC 264 but also cause a massive upset by beating a highly touted Sean O’Malley
