Longmire isolating after COVID-19 scare

Sydney Swans coach John Longmire and his assistants are reportedly in isolation as they await the results of COVID-19 tests, after visiting a Moore Park cafe at the same time as a man who has since tested positive.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports Longmire, along with several assistants, visited the Azure Cafe just after 1pm on Monday.

NSW Health lists the cafe as an exposure site between 12.30pm and 1pm, with anyone who attended the site during that time considered a casual contact, meaning they must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

The Swans are due to play competition leaders Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday night, with the club believed to be contemplating travelling early to prepare, a move than has now been complicated by the fact coaching staff are awaiting test results.

The Swans are based at the SCG, a short distance from the Azure Cafe at Moore Park. The Sydney Roosters NRL club, who are based nearby, have also been caught up in the scare.

The Herald reports the AFL is insisting all players and staff from both the Swans and GWS Giants get tested in the wake of the latest instance of community transmission.

The Giants are scheduled to host Essendon at Homebush on Saturday afternoon.

More to come.
