Injury crisis forces shock Titans move

New Titans signing Esan Marsters could be rushed into the Gold Coast side as early as this weekend.

The out-of-favour Cowboys centre switched colours this morning and will travel to the Gold Coast within the next day or two.

But with the Titans experiencing an injury crisis in the backline, he could find himself thrown straight into the team to meet Wests Tigers on Saturday night.

Ironically, the 24-year-old Cook Islands international began his NRL career at the Tigers before moving to the Cowboys last year.

But Marsters has struggled for form and has only played three games in the top grade in the opening eight rounds, with Cowboys coach Todd Payten preferring the centre combination of Connelly Lemeulu and Justin O'Neill in recent weeks.

Titans coach Justin Holbrook was desperate for experience in the outside backs after losing Corey Thompson and Patrick Herbert to injury.

"Esan is a quality player and will fit in really well with what we're building at the Titans," Holbrook said.

"He'll bring energy and effort and he also brings experience having played test football six times for New Zealand and once for the Cook Islands."
