Recent developments suggest that Jon Jones has priced himself out of a title shot against Francis Ngannou. Jones has made it very clear that his next fight will be in the heavyweight division. However, the fight will only take place if it he is compensated adequately for the risk taken in going up to heavyweight to face Ngannou.
The UFC and Jones can not seem to meet in the middle when it comes to compensation which is why the UFC is now taking an alternative route. Derrick Lewis is all set to rematch former rival ‘The Predator’. However, this time around the fight will be for the UFC heavyweight belt.

Jon Jones is in no hurry to make his heavyweight debut
In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto, White suggested that Jones could fight Miocic while he waits for a fight with Ngannou.
Jones was having none of it. He tweeted a few hours later stating, “Don’t get excited people, I’m not fighting Stipe”. He followed that up with, “I’m not here to fight Stipe but I will defend my belt against him no problem. I’m looking for the biggest draw and I’m willing to wait. 33 years old in better athlete right now than I’ve ever been before.. im just going to keep training my a** off”. ‘Bones’ then deleted both the tweets.
White stated that Jones was demanding $30 million for a fight against Ngannou which Jones has vehemently denied. If Ngannou is able to get past Derrick Lewis and defend his belt successfully, it will only make his fight with Jones a lot bigger. ‘Bones’ is only 33 and is in the prime of his fighting career.
He will not want to waste it sitting around waiting for a fight and will be aiming to get the fight done as soon as possible. However, for that to happen, both parties will have to be more accommodating. A fight between Jones and Ngannou will be one of the biggest heavyweight fights in the history of the promotion and the fans will be hoping that it comes to fruition.
