Dusty freak show sparks GOAT call from legend

Enjoy Dustin Martin while he lasts because he's clearly one of the greatest players of all time.

That was the message from fellow AFL great Matthew Lloyd after Dusty turned on a masterclass in depleted Richmond's Saturday night win over GWS. The 2017 Brownlow Medallist and triple Norm Smith Medallist booted four goals and had 28 touches.

Lloyd said that Martin's strength on the ball was absolutely outstanding, running through the body work on display during his goals against the Giants (watch in the video).

"We are watching one of the greatest players of all time and I think we should enjoy it while he's still in his prime," Lloyd said on The Sunday Footy Show.

"For kids at home to watch why he's so good ... pause it here. The way he protects the space to the ball and the drop of the ball is unbelievable. That's one goal.

"This one ... people will say, 'That's just, he gets lucky here'. But watch how he never gets pushed over the ball. He holds his position, never falls over, keeps his feet, so you're always in the game.

"And then this one ... doesn't panic. Some guys will just hack that, throw it on the boot now or throw it to Tom Lynch. He knows his strength and his power, he darts out to the right, kicks that goal.

"Another special performance when his team needed him. Second, third, fourth, fifth-bet midfielders out, he rose to the occasion."

Kane Cornes added: "Credit to Damien Hardwick for knowing his player, he used him perfectly.

"A lot of centre bounces but it was a majority forward, where he had a match-up that he liked. The timing of when Damien Hardwick took him off the ground, put him forward, into midfield; just used him to perfection."

Nathan Brown chimed in: "He clearly is the best player in the comp again."

His teammates won't argue with Brown.

"He's pretty un-bloody-believable," veteran Tiger Kamdyn McIntosh said on The Sunday Footy Show.

"He can turn the game around so quick. His ability to win one-on-ones and just see the game like no one else can, it's awesome. He can bring his teammates into the game. It's great."
