In the NBA, on-court fights are normal and at times the players involved stay mad at each other for as long as their playing career. Remember the tussle between Jimmy Butler and TJ Warren in the Orlando Bubble? Well, something similar happened with the Lakers’ Dennis Schroder and the Nets’ Kyrie Irving in the current season.
On April 11, 2021, the Lakers routed the Nets 126-101 in a blowout victory that saw a verbal battle between their star guards. All through the game, there was some tension between Schroder and Ky that eventually led to their ejection. More than a month since that happened, the former is yet to overcome.
Dennis Schroder with a comeback message for Kyrie Irving
Recently, the Lakers’ star point guard took a dig at Kyrie and drilled another nail on their rivalry. The 27-YO showcased his massive Kyrie Irving sneakers collection and detailed how he can no more wear them. The Menace, standing alongside his wife, Ellen Ziolo, said in German (translated), “Kyrie Irving, I have a lot of his shoes, behind the sprinter, circa 30-40 pairs. Unfortunately, I can’t wear them no more. It’s not possible after what happened in the game. I can not do it. Not going to wear it again. We will do giveaways for everybody who wants them I’ll donate so text me. We’ll send them, size 12, every colorway there is. Let us know and we send you a pair.”

What exactly happened during that Lakers vs Nets game?
Playing in the absence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers managed a flying start in that game. Dennis Schroder, who took no time in becoming the Lakers’ third-best player, scored 19 quick points that night. In that same game, Dennis had hurt his tailbone too after an awkward fall, but nothing that could stop his scoring. However, the ongoing back-and-forth between him and Kyrie went out of hands as they lost it at one another. That’s when the refs interfered and ejected both the stars.
After the game, The Menace apologized to his teammates for leaving them at a crucial stage but had nothing to say about Kyrie. In fact, he called that potential NBA Final preview “the best win of the year” and clarified his stand.
