AFL great Kane Cornes has warned Melbourne to stay humble after teenager Kysaiah Pickett's scoreboard sledge of premiers Richmond.
Pickett had a crack at the man on the mark (Rhyan Mansell) and pointed to the scoreboard after kicking the final goal in his side's upset win over the Tigers on Saturday night, sparking a melee.
The Demons improved to a dream 6-0 start this season but Cornes said that they should be mindful of doing things the right way; especially against a top side.
"He pointed to the scoreboard, so he had a shot for goal, he went after the player on the mark, then he pointed to the scoreboard to say, 'This is the score, we've got ya'," Cornes said on The Sunday Footy Show.
"I think you've just got to be really humble. It's easy as a second-year player to get caught up in it; be humble, though. Richmond have long memories."
Geelong great Billy Brownless interjected: "The coach will have a chat to him, that's OK."
Cornes continued: "It is, Bill, but Melbourne have done nothing yet.
"Well done to them for the start of their season but they're triple premiership players that you're mocking late in the game. You've got to be a little bit careful with the way you go about it."
Richmond dropped to 3-3 for the season and the loss was compounded by a concussion for megastar Dustin Martin.
Melbourne's win came on a big night for the club, with former captain Nathan Jones celebrating his 300th game.
