REPORTS: Eddie Hearn Receives Record Site Fee of $150 Million From Saudi Arabia

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury’s potential fight has already started breaking records. The highly anticipated undisputed heavyweight clash has been the talk of the sport for the last few months. However, both parties have had to delay the official announcements since they are yet to finalize the venue.

Recently, fresh developments confirmed both parties had agreed to Saudi Arabia. And now Matchroom Boxing has received a record-breaking proposal from the Saudi authorities.

Mark Kriegel from ESPN was the first to break the news. He said, “Eddie Hearn and Matchroom received a memorandum of understanding from the Saudis this past week, but are still waiting on a document that can be considered binding. Meanwhile, my sources tell me that the proposed site fee is in excess of $150 million.”

This comment showed how serious the rumors are at the moment. Kriegel added, “Meaning, according to the contract signed between Fury’s camp and Anthony Joshua’s camp, each fighter, under that revision, would be guaranteed $75 million. There’d be another $3-5 million for expenses and the undercard.”

Therefore, fans can now get excited for the fight as this is the first official offer for a venue. There were speculations about many countries, but it now appears that the fight will happen in Saudi Arabia.

Eddie Hearn will break the record yet again

The bid for the Fury-Joshua fight is now the highest in the sport’s history. Given the magnitude of this bout, experts projected it would take this kind of money to host the event. However, this not the first time Eddie Hearn has received this kind of money to stage a fight.

The previous record was also for a Matchroom Boxing show when Anthony Joshua took on Andy Ruiz Jr. for the rematch in Saudi Arabia. In that instance, the site bid was $60 million. Therefore, this event has shattered the record.
