NBA legend reportedly fired for raunchy video

Boston Celtics legend and ESPN NBA analyst Paul Pierce was fired from his position at the broadcaster after posting a raunchy Instagram Live video.

Just days after Pierce went live in a room full of exotic dancers while smoking what appeared to marijuana and drinking alcohol, it was reported Pierce had been let go by the company.

Pierce had been employed by ESPN since retiring from the NBA after the 2016-17 season and has been featured on shows such as 'NBA Countdown', 'The Jump' and general coverage.

After news emerged of his exit, Pierce, who was given the nickname "The Truth" by NBA great Shaquille O'Neal, posted a four-second video on social media laughing in reaction to the news with the message "Big Things coming soon stay tuned make sure u smile #Truthshallsetufree."

The New York Post reported: "ESPN was particularly miffed that Pierce chose to put the videos out on his own accord. If he had been filmed doing the same activities and they became public by someone else, he may have kept his job."

Pierce played for two decades in the NBA, mainly for the Celtics where he won the 2008 championship.

He earned more than $200 million during his career and was named a finalist for the 2021 Hall of Fame class last month.
