TV star's cringeworthy mix-up of Indian greats

Channel 7 presenter James Brayshaw has confused Sunil Gavaskar for Sachin Tendulkar in an embarrassing on air blunder during the SCG Test between Australia and India.

Brayshaw was attempting to welcome a new commentary team to the action but mixed up his Indian cricket legends in an awkward TV moment.

Gavaskar, the batting great and former captain, is in Australia as one of 7's expert commentators.

The legendary Tendulkar most certainly is not.

Here's how it went down.

"Sachin Tendulkar, welcome, and also Damien Fleming," Brayshaw began, to the bemusement of Fleming.

"Sachin Tendulkar's in the commentary box?" Fleming inquired.

"We were just talking about him (Tendulkar)," Brayshaw replied.

"The great man, the little master," Fleming continued.

The James Brayshaw gaffe.

"My apologies Sunil, we were just talking...," Brayshaw said as he attempted to save face.

"I am flattered, I am flattered to be called Sachin Tendulkar," Gavaskar said to ease the tension a bit.

"We were just talking about him a second ago," Brayshaw said again, but social media is not often forgiving.
