Ahead of the 2021 NASCAR Truck Series, reigning champions GMS Racing made some major announcements. To be precise, the outfit revealed its crew chief lineup for the new season. Among the appointments is Jeff Hensley who moves over from ThorSport Racing.

Prior to his recruitment, he partnered with Grant Enfinger for four seasons. Last year, they enjoyed one of their best seasons as they made it to the Championship 4 alongside the GMS Racing drivers Sheldon Creed, Zane Smith, and Brett Moffitt.

It is a return to familiar territory for Hensley, as he worked with them in 2016 as Spencer Gallagher’s crew chief. Now in 2021, he will link up with Chase Purdy and the #23 team.

Who else is in the GMS Racing stable for the 2021 NASCAR season?

Aside from Hensley, Jeff Stankiewicz mans the station for the #2 car of Sheldon Creed. Meanwhile, Kevin “Bono” Manion sticks with the #21 car of Zane Smith. Another new arrival is Chad Walter who links up with fellow newcomer, Raphael Lessard in the #24 car driver Raphael Lessard.

Walter previously worked with Tyler Ankrum in the #26 truck and the duo managed to reach the playoffs in the 2020 season. With Walter gone, Charles Denike is expected to take over as Ankrum’s crew chief.

Meanwhile, Brett Moffitt’s 2020 crew chief Chad Norris earned a promotion to the team’s competition director. Moffitt himself has jumped ship to Niece Motorsports in the Truck Series while splitting duties with Our Motorsports in the Xfinity Series.

We are excited to have our crew chiefs return for the 2021 season with the addition of crew chief, Jeff Hensley,” team president Mike Beam said.

Hensley returning to GMS will bring more veteran knowledge to our powerhouse crew chief line up. Chad Norris fulfilling the Competition Director role will be a great addition to our management team. Norris will work along-side Technical Director, Tom Ackerman, to elevate our truck program and to make it more competitive,” he added.

Hopefully, the GMS Racing team should continue to perform well after the slew of technical changes. With a reshuffle of their crew, the outfit will be hoping to gain some more glory in 2021.
