Luke Campbell Pens Emotional Statement Following Ryan Garcia Loss

Despite all his efforts, Luke Campbell lost the WBC Interim lightweight title fight against Ryan Garcia, as the 22-year-old stopped him with a brutal body shot in round 7.

However, ‘Cool Hand’ Campbell had several significant moments in the fight where he outshone Garcia. In one such instance, Campbell secured an early knockdown in round two and became the first man to floor the Mexican-American.

However, it didn’t prove to be beneficial as Garcia went back on his feet and displayed a clinical game until knocking out Campbell with a liver shot. After the fight, Luke Campbell delivered a heartfelt message to his fans and apologized for not getting the win.

He tagged himself as ‘heartbroken’ with the result but hailed Ryan Garcia for his performance and predicted a big future for him.

The Brit Olympic gold medalist turned to social media and wrote, “Well I’m honestly heartbroken, I really wanted to bring the win back for you all. I’m sorry for that. I hope you all enjoyed the fight. Have to take my hat off to ‘Ryan Garcia’, well done and a massive future ahead for him. I wish him all the best.”

Ryan Garcia vs Luke Campbell- Overview

Garcia became the early aggressor as he charged some serious assault right from the beginning round. However, Campbell was a great counter puncher and caught his opponent multiple times with sleek shots.

He even secured a knocked down and looked comfortable but Garcia’s ferocity proved to be costly as the fight went deeper. ‘KingRy’ sealed the win with a body shot and grabbed the WBC Interim title, a mandatory spot to challenge the WBC lightweight champion.

However, Garcia wanted to face WBA champion Gervonta Davis in the post-fight interview. He had several more options ahead, but the Mexican desired for ‘Tank’ amongst all.

That said, Luke Campbell will have to take a time off and revive himself in the lightweight scenario to enter the title ride again. Nevertheless, ‘Cool Hand’ is still a threat to the elite lightweight boxers, especially after his performance tonight.
