India's bubble breachers get COVID test results

India's five bubble-breaching cricketers have returned negative COVID-19 test results, but it's been revealed they had gone tantalisingly close to a Boost Juice kiosk at which a coronavirus-positive employee had worked just three days earlier.

Vice-captain Rohit Sharma, fast bowler Navdeep Saini, openers Privthi Shaw and Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant landed themselves in strife when a video appeared on social media of the players eating at a Melbourne restaurant on New Year's Day (watch the video in the player at the top of the page).

The fact the nearby Boost Juice outlet has since been linked to a positive COVID-19 case, forcing it to be closed for deep cleaning, has served as a wake-up call to members of the Indian and Australian bubbles to take the biosecurity measures seriously.

Every member of the Australian and Indian camps today returned negative results and will tomorrow share a chartered flight to Sydney for the third Test.

The Sydney Cricket Ground Test will take place despite the outbreak of the virus in greater Sydney, which today resulted in daily crowds being slashed to just 12,000 people.
