UFC megastar Conor McGregor came out and dropped a social media post, hyping up his return match-up against Dustin Poirier. UFC 257 marks the Irishman’s return from retirement that was announced at UFC 250 earlier in the year. Moreover, the aforementioned headlining bout serves as the headlining feature from their grudge match that took place back in 2014.
The bout is merely 14 days away as McGregor reminded fight fans who have been pining for his return to the cage. Furthermore, he makes reference to previous match-ups where he put forth his best performances. These came at UFC 205 against Eddie Alvarez and UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone. ‘The Notorious’ believes he can stomp on both versions of himself should he be booked against them.

The aforementioned bouts came in as some of the best performances seen in modern MMA, period. The match-ups were a reflection of McGregor’s preparedness and he seems to be looking down the barrel of a similar performance. Furthermore, he’s riding high on confidence given the fact that he sparked Poirier in their first fight.

The former two-division champion’s marquee showcase came in on the night where he clinched the lightweight title. Eddie Alvarez was made to look like an amateur as he stood with McGregor in the pocket. The Irishman dismantled ‘The Underground King’ with malicious intent whilst famously keeping his hands behind his back.
Furthermore, Conor McGregor also had an absolute stand-out win in his last fight against Donald Cerrone. The bout concluded in just 40 seconds as ‘Cowboy’ had no answer for the pace that was being put on him. From shoulder strikes to cross high kicks, Cerrone looked worse for wear after barely spending any time in the cage.
The prospect that Conor McGregor could have elevated his game further from his last Cerrone performance is scary. He’s already proven himself to be one of the most clinical MMA strikers in history, and his wrestling is no joke either.
It boils down to whether McGregor will have the necessary cardio to hang with Poirier if the fight enters the championship rounds. However, if ‘Notorious’ is to be believed, he’s more than ready.
