The news that is making headlines in the tennis world is that Roger Federer withdrew from the Australian Open 2021. The Swiss maestro had anticipated his return to Melbourne Park; however, he did not recover fully on time. His biggest rival Rafael Nadal took on Twitter to show support for his 20-times Grand Slam record partner.

Federer means everything to tennis as much as tennis means to him. The 39-year-old, who went under two knee surgeries in 2020, really hoped to start his season early on. Unfortunately, even the two-week delay of the Australian Open was not enough to heal his wounds.

Nevertheless, the 5th best tennis player in the world today, Roger has not stopped his comeback preparations. Currently, he is training in Dubai where he also celebrated Christmas with his family.

Unquestionably, the two legends of tennis, Roger and Rafa share a bond that is anything but ordinary. The duo has time and again lifted one another and supported each other throughout their careers. And in the course of competing one another, they have redefined the meaning of a rival opponent.

Since Federer’s comeback news had hit the market, World No. 2 had hoped for his success. Nadal also had mentioned that one must expect great results from the Swiss maestro in Melbourne Park. However, things did not turn out as expected, but much like everyone, Federer is keen on making his return.

There is still a lot in questions regarding the fitness level of the 39-year-old champion. Federer last participated in 2020 Australian Open and since has been out of the court. However, given his passion for the sport, it won’t be easy to keep him away from the tennis courts.

Earlier, Federer had declared his 2021 goals as winning the Olympic Gold and Grand Slams. Therefore, it is fair to assume that he will soon get back to work to achieve his targets. His fans created a video to show how much he means to them even today.
