The third race of Melbourne Cup Day, the Schweppervescence Plate has been won by Alleboom, just ahead of Hard Landing in second and Mr Moppett in third.

Ridden by Craig Williams and trained by Richard and Chantelle Jolly, the pre-race favourite got off to a good start was able to keep the nose in front of Hard Landing for the majority of the 1000 metres, doing very well over the last 200 metres to hold off a furious late challenge. Mr Moppett was a bit further back of the top two, but was ahead of the pack to claim third.
