Dragons land another $1 million Origin player

The Broncos and Dragons have finally agreed to terms on a deal to bring Jack Bird back to his boyhood club, with Brisbane's $1 million-dollar-a-season bust returning to Sydney.

Bird was brought to Brisbane by Wayne Bennett amid much fanfare after playing a key role in delivering Cronulla's first premiership in 2016 but the move went pear shaped after Bird battled with his weight and several serious injuries.

The Broncos have been keen to offload him for some time but initially spurned the Dragons' advances due to the financial terms.

However, the two clubs have worked through that issue and this afternoon the Dragons trumpeted Bird's signing, making him the second big name Broncos half to arrive at the club in the last three years.

He follows Ben Hunt, who was signed by Paul McGregor to stop the rot for the Dragons but has had mixed success since arriving at the club in 2018.
