After a gruelling home-and-away season, this is what netball fans around Australia have been waiting for – the Super Netball finals. This year’s Super Netball finals get underway at 1pm (AEST) on Saturday, October 3 with the major semi-final between the Melbourne Vixens and Sunshine Coast Lightning.
Super Netball is an eight-team competition, with the top four teams at the conclusion of the season progressing to the finals. This season, the ladder was as follows;
1st – Melbourne Vixens
2nd – Sunshine Coast Lightning
3rd – West Coast Fever
4th – NSW Swifts
—
5th – Queensland Firebirds
6th – Giants
7th – Adelaide Thunderbirds
8th – Collingwood Magpies
The top two teams (the Vixens and the Lightning) play in the major semi-final, with the winner immediately progressing to the grand final and the loser playing the winner of the minor semi-final (Fever vs Swifts) in the preliminary final.
The winner of the preliminary final then plays the winner of the major semi-final in the grand final, with the victor crowned Super Netball premiers.
Due to COVID restrictions, all of this year’s finals will be played in Queensland. The semi-finals will be played at USC Stadium on the Sunshine Coast, while the grand final will be played at Brisbane’s Nissan Arena.
