“Was Really Into It”: Stefanos Tsitsipas Reveals His First Tennis Job as a Child

We all know Stefanos Tsitsipas as a rising star in the ATP circuit. He is indeed expected to shine bright at grand slams in the near future. But how many of us know what the Greek talent was doing before he broke into the professional scene? The answer is really interesting!

Tsitsipas has certainly come a long way since his semi-final appearance at the 2019 Australian Open. Moreover, the 22-year-old won the ATP Finals event the same year to skyrocket his place in the ATP rankings.

He is currently ranked sixth in the world and has advanced to the fourth round of French Open 2020. During a recent press-conference, Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed a major piece of information about his childhood. One can obviously guess that he’s been following tennis from a very young age, but there’s more to it!

He’s currently living his dream, but where did Tsitsipas’ early passion take him? “I was a journalist when I was 11-12 years old,” the Greek talent said when addressing a room full of media people. “I had this Facebook page which I very often updated with news about Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and the name of it was Tennis Score ITN,” he revealed

“And I was really into it. Every day after school, I would go and check the results, check the current leaders and update it. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed doing it,” Tsitsipas added.

Stefanos Tsitsipas offers tips on effective and professional journalism

Now we’ve come to know that Stefanos Tsitsipas pursued journalism as a little kid. He took his tennis interests and shared his knowledge with the world. As he continued to talk about his early experience, Tsitsipas admitted that he knows a lot about the journalism world.

Hence, he wanted to share one important piece of advice to the other journalists in the room. “You should never have a favorite when you’re in a media platform and also a serious page where people read news,” he said.

“I think you all know Roger Federer was my favorite player growing up. But I didn’t necessarily make him a god on my FaceBook page,” he laughed. Well, that’s it from our end about the crazy new revelation that Tsitsipas made.

The 22-year-old has cruised into the fourth round at Roland Garros, where he’ll play Grigor Dmitrov. Stefanos Tsitsipas has never advanced past this stage at the French Open and it would be interesting if he can break the chain this year!
