Walllabies urged to poach Roosters star

The Wallabies should poach Roosters star Angus Crichton according to dual international Wendell Sailor as the Roosters aim to free up cap space in their pursuit of young star Joseph Suaalii

The call may come as a surprise to Roosters fans because Crichton had one of his best seasons in the NRL and is currently a member of the NSW team for the Origin opener next Wednesday.

But with the Roosters now leading the way in trying to lure the highly-touted youngster to Bondi Junction, Crichton may become collateral damage as the glamour club looks to shed money from the salary cap in its attempt to snatch Suaalii from rivals South Sydney.

Crichton comes off contract at the end of 2021 which puts him in the firing line and Sailor urged other clubs and Rugby Australia to pounce.

Angus Crichton

Crichton played schoolboy rugby for Scots College before the Rabbitohs came knocking. He linked up with the Tricolours in 2019.

"Every club, [should be looking to sign Crichton]," Sailor told Triple M.

"You know what I love about Angus Crichton. It's not just what you see on the field, he does a lot of great stuff in the Indigenous community.

"He's unbelievable and from a really nice family.

"The ARU should be looking to get him back into rugby union.

"He's a really good player and a lovely young man … the Roosters, what are you doing? Stop going after Suaalii!"
