Diego Schwartzman who has been having quite an eventful year on the court has opened up on his short-term goals for the remainder of the 2020 season.
He is currently playing in the Bett1Hulks Championship in Cologne and made light work of the match against Oscar Otte. The Argentine defeated him in straight sets 6-3 6-2.
With 2 spots still remaining for the ATP finals qualifications, Schwartzman is aiming for his first-ever ATP Tour Finals appearance.
“It is always difficult but now I have a new goal: to play in the Nitto ATP Finals at the end of the year and I know that in these tournaments I can get extra points and I am very focused as if it were a Grand Slam,” he said.

The win against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina which he termed as “crazy” has really strengthened his chances of clinching one of the two remaining spots.
Upon asked how is the preparation for the matches going forward, he said, “In preparation for me it is exactly the same. The only difference is that they are the new objectives that I have, I not only think about winning games but also about adding and that I do well.”
Diego Schwartzman will be playing in the Sofia Open in order to strengthen his chances of making it to the Finals in London.
Schwartzman has broken into the Top 10 of the FedEx ATP rankings last week. In doing so, he has become the first Argentine in more than 8 years to do so.
He is currently ranked 9, a position down from his career-best of 8. This year he has had a win to lose ratio of 20:10.
He has pocketed $12,91,934 in prize-money and overall of $88,59,621(Singles and Doubles combined).

Schwartzman will be up against either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Yoshihito Nishioka in the semi-finals at Cologne. The Argentine will be trying to reach his third ATP Tour championship match of the year
