In the US Open 2020, fourth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas lost to Borna Coric in the third round. The 32 ranked Croatian pulled off a spectacular 5 set display to register a win against Tsitsipas. The almost empty Arthur Ashe arena was the audience of another seeded star bowing out of the Grand Slam.
The marathon match had everything including a possible verbal spat involving Stefanos Tsitsipas. The incident involved Tsitsipas and his father Apostolos Tsitsipas. During the third set, the score read 1-1 when the incident took place. Coric was serving and was leading 30-15 against Tsitsipas. A spectacular service stunned Tsitsipas and the Croatian increased the lead.
Apostolos Tsitsipas was certainly not impressed with how Tsitipas was dealing with his opponent. He tried to correct from the stands. The instruction was a bit too much for Stefanos to bear. Frustrated, Stefanos directed an insulting scream towards his father.
“YOU DON’T KNOW !!” Apostolos Tsitsipas must have corrected something to his son and Stefanos did not take it well. Important anger after this great serve from Coric, the tweet read.

Stefanos Tsitsipas misses golden opportunity to clinch the Grand Slam
The third-round match which went on for over 4 hours was one of the finest so far in the US Open 2020. The scoreline read 6-7 6-4 4-6 7-5 7-6 in favor of Coric. Trailing 2 sets to 1, Coric came back beautifully to shatter the hopes of Tsitsipas and pocket the last two sets. Keeping his calm under pressure, Coric displayed mature sportsmanship qualities at a very early age. His mindset in turning a game on its head is simply outstanding. Hopefully, Coric will be able to continue his journey for some time more in the tournament.
Crashing out of the US Open 2020, Stefanos has to wait a bit longer for his inaugural Grand Slam. The semi-finalist of the Australian Open 2019, Stefanos was one of the favorites to clinch the Championship. Tsitsipas was going pretty well and was confident enough to extract a win. However, a couple of magnificent shots from Coric shifted back the pressure on him. Although he took the final set to the tie-breakers, the day belonged to Coric. A disappointing exit from the young Greek, although, he’d be looking forward to sharpening his skills and refine his techniques before the Roland Garros. Hopefully, he’d have a better chance to clinch the cup in Paris.
