Xbox: Titles Users Could Get Hold of Thanks to the Bethesda Acquisition

Microsoft sent the world in a state of frenzy when it announced the acquisition of ZeniMax Media. The deal cost Microsoft an astounding $7.5 billion. This adds a range of renowned franchises under the Xbox game pass that stands as the USP for Microsoft’s next-gen console.

Bethesda, a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media, is the studio behind some of the biggest franchises in gaming. However, the studio has had a mixed bag of fortunes in the last few years. But with Microsoft as support, Bethesda may be able to go back to making drool-worthy titles.

Additionally, Microsoft now owns franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Wolfenstein, and Dishonored, all of which will be added to the Xbox game pass. The game pass has over fifteen million subscribers, and to cater to their needs is Microsoft’s central idea.

This has shifted the entire debate on console exclusives in Xbox’s favor. This comes as good news for Xbox patrons as they will get access to the following reputed franchises.

The following titles will make their way to Xbox as a part of the acquisition

Elder Scrolls 6 coming for both Xbox and PC

While Bethesda has confirmed Elder Scrolls 6, we are still in the dark about the release date. Fans have the highest of expectations from the upcoming title since Elder V is considered one of the finest RPGs ever.

Bethesda had dropped the teaser trailer at E3 2018 and heaps of rumors have surfaced since then. However, with Elder Scrolls Online doing pretty well and devs preoccupied with other projects, it’ll be a few months at least until we get a formal update.

The title will be exclusive for Xbox and PC, giving the PlayStation a fair share of competition.

Doom Eternal

The game will be added to the game pass on October 1 for consoles. The game released in March for Xbox One and PS4 and is the fifth series in the id Software’s domain. A new-gen version for both Xbox Series X and PS5 is planned as Bethesda promises to honor all its previous agreements.

The game is set a few years after the previous title (2016). Doom Slayer again is at the nucleus of the game.

The immersive gameplay and the campaign design in the game have been highly praised. Moreover, the game’s focus on combat mechanics and soundtracks received world acclaim. But the elaborate way of storytelling has received a lot of criticism.

Xbox game pass subscribers are in for a treat as the game will b available there in a few days.

Dishonored 2

The game is a sequel to the original title that released in 2012. Players can choose between two protagonists, each with unique supernatural abilities. Emily and Corvo Attano have abilities that can also be dropped as the game progresses.

The choice of two protagonists also means that there are different ways of pursuing the same objective and mission. Dishonored 2 got a lot of positive feedback after launch. The game was praised for its gameplay and breathtaking portrayal of stealth and combat, along with the design of the quests and objectives.

Bethesda as a studio has long been criticized for elaborate methods of storytelling, often labeled monotonous. However, Dishonoured 2 only impressed and was awarded Best Action/Adventure Game at the Game Awards in 2016.

So, it will definitely lure more players to a game pass subscription whenever it is added to the list.

Fallout 76

Fallout 76 is the first multiplayer game in the series and gives the players the freedom to explore the open world. The game is set in the year 2102, almost twenty-five years after the nuclear war that destroyed the entire civilization.

As good as the visuals are, the campaign of the game has been called purposeless. But the gameplay and its features make it a must-play, and hopefully, the Xbox game pass subscribers will be able to get their hands on the title in no time.

Bethesda hasn’t been as successful recently as it was a few years back. But Microsoft will enable its devs to spend more time creating titles that promise to be bigger and better.

The Xbox game pass, along with the new titles, definitely sounds like a treat for the Xbox users. It also is a way of luring new players into building a relationship with the Xbox ecosystem. Only time will tell how this deal pans out for Microsoft. Stay tuned for more updates!
