Jennifer Brady of USA shot to the headlines with her emphatic win over three-time Major champion Angelique Kerber. 28th seeded professional from the United States Brady dominated utterly during the show at Louis Armstrong Stadium. Kerber could not stand in front of the 25-year-old’s aggressive tennis in the Round of 16 in the US Open 2020.
The scoreline 6-1 6-4 would narrate a petty one-sided match in favor of right-handed Brady. However, the second set wasn’t easy to grasp for Brady. She suffered a bit of strain on her left thighs and soon was seen taking a medical time out. The certain uneasiness held onto her and the fluidity in her game met an invisible obstruction. A few unforced errors from Brady gave Kerber the hope to fight back.
Brady confessed the pain taking the better out of her, though she held on to the lead and took the match home. “I was getting a little frustrated; I felt a little pain in my leg, but I really just wanted to close it out in two sets”, she stated.
After the match, Kerber was not shy to praise her opponent’s victory. The German was quick enough to state that young Brady holds the ability to clinch the US Open 2020.
‘If she plays like in the last few rounds here I think for sure she has the chance. She is hitting really fast, she has confidence & she feels the court. Let’s see how far she can get here but for sure she can get far,” she said.

The young American is high on confidence rampaging her way into the quarterfinals. Defeating a three-time Grand Slam champion Kerber will definitely boost her up as she gets ready to edge her way into the semis.
28th seed Brady will be locking horns with 23rd seeded Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan. If she goes through to the semi-finals, she’s expected against Naomi Osaka or Petra Kvitova considering there are no major upsets in the other quarterfinals. Definitely her road to the finals won’t be easy although she’ll be focussing on one step at a time.
