Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal became a professional back in 2001. Ever since then, fans have loved watching him, and former player Kristy Pigeon is no different. She was an active player in the 1970s, but she still follows the sport and absolutely adores the Spaniard.
“I like watching Nadal because he’s cute as a button and never gives up, he fights every point. He’s like a gentle giant almost where he is sweet, calm, and nice off the court but a killer on the court,” confessed Pigeon.
Rafael Nadal suffers setback
Kristy Pigeon is right, Rafael Nadal is a killer on the court, but unfortunately, he fell well short at the Italian Open quarter-finals. An inspired Diego Schwartzman absolutely dominated the match and won 6-2, 7-5.
This was the first time that Rafa lost to the Argentine, and now, his fans are worried since the French Open is fast approaching.
Even though Rafa has won at Roland Garros 12 times, he has never triumphed there without winning another clay-court event first. This has everyone wondering – will he win the title this year?
While some people believe that he won’t, Rafa has a knack of proving people wrong. Yes, he has faced a setback with his recent loss, but there’s a reason he’s a 19-time Grand Slam champion. He’s one of the best competitors ever and that is why he will give it his all when the French Open begins on September 27th.
